Kushi Movie Review 2023 – A Feel Good Romantic Drama Starring Vijay Devarakonda and Samantha

Storyline and Performances
Kushi revolves around two contrasting personalities – Vipul and Aaradhya who fall in love and get married against their families’ wishes. However, ego issues creep into their new life as a married couple leading to conflicts. The story explores how they try to work through their differences to sustain their love.
Vijay Devarakonda convincingly portrays the role of Vipul, an average young man working in BSNL. He brings out the character’s longing and pain aptly on-screen. Samantha slips easily into the role of Aaradhya, imbibing the character with a wonderful mix of innocence, strength, and sensitivity.
Veteran actors Murali Sharma and Sachin Khedekar provide strong support in prominent roles. Their ideological clashes about science versus astrology add interesting conflict. Rohini chimes in with an impactful emotional scene as Vipul’s mother. Vennela Kishore and Rahul Ramakrishna provide comic relief in the first and second halves respectively.

Direction and Technical Aspects
With Kushi, Shiva Nirvana weaves a simple but heartwarming love story highlighted by the lead pair’s chemistry and emotive performances. The screenplay balances the light-hearted first half and heavier second half reasonably well.
However, the story and character arcs are predictable with no major twists. Some of the conflict points between the lead couple also feel slightly exaggerated. The run time could have been tighter.
The music by newcomer Hesham Abdul Wahab is a major asset. The soothing melodies like Na Roja Nuvvu, Aaradhya, and Khushi bring the romantic portions to life beautifully. His background score elevates the emotional scenes effectively. Cinematographer Murali G’s visuals capture the Kashmir and Hyderabad landscapes engagingly.
Overall, Kushi makes for a decent one-time watch for those interested in romantic dramas. Watch it for Vijay-Samantha’s chemistry, melodious music, and the story’s feel-good emotional quotient.
